Outside the school...
In the midst of school activities, I also took time to continue to pursue my interest and passion in dance, something which I've started doing since a young age.
Since 2012, I've enrolled in Jonathan and Peggie Dance Studio, learning Latin dances such as Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Waltz and Paso Doble. Through these dance lessons, I've not only acquired dance skills and techniques, but also forged valuable friendships.
Participating in competitions
I've always been eager to participate in competition: not so much because I wanted to win them, but rather as an opportunity to observe better dancers, and to learn from them.
I could vividly remeber my first time taking part in a Latin competition. I was really nervous, especially since this is a competition where world-famous dancers would be participating in. And what I truly gained from this experience was the chance to watch and observe the other dancers, who were certainly inspiring to watch. From their dances, I could literally feel the amount of love and passion they had for dance; I felt so much more motivated to work harder. Even though I did not get any prize or a fantastic ranking, that didn’t matter to me, because my purpose of joining this competition in the first place was solely to gain the learning experience. I simply gave it my best, for that, I am satisfied.
Annual Dance Performances
From 2013-2015, I've participated in the annual Jonathan & Peggie Dance Studio's Dinner and Dance performance; they have given me a platform to showcase my growth and improvement as a dancer. During these performance, I was involved in a couple of dances: Cha Cha, Jive, Rumba and in 2013, Waltz.
For all 3 years, the dance gala went smoothly, and gave all of us a huge sense of satisfaction and achievement. Our efforts of preparation before the dance gala have certainly paid off, and this experience has since motivated me to work even harder to achieve greater heights in both Latin and Waltz dances.
