Leadership roles
Over the course of the 4 years of education in Nanyang Girls' High School, I have taken up a few leadership positions. The most prominent experience would be the role of a class Monitor in my Secondary 4 year.
My duty as a class monitor was to take care of class administrative matters, as well as to lead class discussions for various activities such as LSC dinner performance, classroom decorations etc. I also had to attend BOM meetings, where I would represent my class to voice out any feedbacks or suggestions for our school system to our level director. Besides, I was in charge of organizing various class activities, such as class breakfast, class outings, etc.
As a monitor, I had to juggle between various commitments and tasks, as well as my studies especially since Secondary 4 is an extremely important year. Honestly, it was not an easy task, maybe even more difficult than I had expected it to be. There will always be a multitude of opinions and ideas from the class, and as a monitor I have to gather all these opinions and lead the class to reach a compromise. This is a hard task for me, since I have not much experience.
I have to say that taking on this role was well out of my comfort zone, but this experience has been one of the most fulfilling I've had in Nanyang. I've learnt so much about leadership (eg. commanding attention, organization skills etc.), teamwork, responsibility and many more. Even though I might not have been the best monitor, I've tried my best.
